Join Michael Kenna for a book signing at The Photographers’ Gallery

Michael Kenna will be at The Photographers’ Gallery on Sunday 2 June signing copies of his latest book A 45 Year Odyssey, published by RAM in late 2018. The book looks back at the career of the renowned landscape photographer through 100 images – including his most famous photographs as well as a selection of previously unpublished works – and was published to accompany the January 2019 retrospective of the same name at the Tokyo Photographic Museum.

Since the mid-1980s Kenna has mainly used Hasselblad medium-format and Holga cameras to give his photographs their distinctive square format, whilst his unique monochromatic vision is often achieved through an exposure time of several hours. Kenna’s work is now held in several important permanent collections including those of the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, The National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

As well as A 45 Year Odyssey, a selection of Kenna’s other titles will be available for sale, including some rare and hardback books. If you are unable to make the event, signed copies of Kenna’s books can be pre-ordered online or by contacting the The Photographers’ Gallery bookshop.

The book signing will take place on Sunday 2 June from 3 – 5pm. This event is free, with no booking required.
