Oliver Mulvihill

Oliver Mulvihill uses an interplay of colour, form and space to investigate experiences of modern environments. Inspired by the tradition of still life painting, Mulvihill uses egg tempera to present playful and irreverent, yet meticulously rendered compositions. Familiar objects become re-envisioned as idiosyncratic characters, players in an unfurling surreal drama. 

Mulvihill was born in London in 1989. He graduated from the University of Brighton with a BA in painting and went on to The Royal Drawing School and Turps Studio Painting Programme. In 2016 he was awarded artist-in-residence at ESMoA Gallery, Los Angeles and, in 2021, a residency to Cyprus College of Art and has been selected for FBA Future. He lives and works in London.
