London-based artist Salomé Wu creates ethereal worlds through her expressive paintings laden with symbolism. Wu’s practice incorporates various media including painting, printing, installation and performance. Her work examines otherworldliness through translations and ever-evolving reinterpretations of mythology, formed from her observation of time, fragility, and the interplay between reality and the unseen. Wu works to keep her art devoid of contemporary models of identification and taxonomy, relying on obliquely biomorphic figures to populate her work. Across all mediums she discovers a nonlinear journey, weaving together seemingly disparate moments to unveil previously concealed narratives.
Born in 1996, Salomé Wu gained a BA from Chelsea College of Arts, London before graduating in 2020 with an MA in Fine Art, Printmaking from Camberwell College of Arts, London. Her work has been exhibited extensively in the UK.
Salomé Wu lives and works in London.
