Career-spanning retrospective of Bruce Davidson opens in Monschau

Bruce Davidson has been a member of the Magnum Photos Agency since 1958 and is best-known for his photo-essays documenting subversive, counter-culture groups. This travelling retrospective, beginning at Kunst und Kulturzentrum der StädteRegion Aachen (KuK), Monschau, Germany, is the largest overview of Davidson’s complete works to date.

Becoming a full member of Magnum in 1959, Bruce Davidson: Retrospective celebrates 60 years of the photographer’s work with the agency. The exhibition comprehensively explores Davidson’s documentary series, including The Dwarf, Brooklyn Gang and East 100th Street, as well as his more recent landscape work, The Nature of Los Angeles.

Bruce Davidson: Retrospective runs through 23 June 2019 at KuK, Monschau. To coincide with the exhibition, Magnum has commissioned curator, poet, and photography historian Carole Naggar to reflect on the photographer’s career: learn more here.
