Vivian Maier at the Finnish Museum of Photography
Although The Self Portrait and its Double, an exhibition celebrating Vivian Maier’s photographs at the Finnish Museum of Photography, was only open for two months in 2020, it was the most popular exhibition the institution ever held. The show welcomed 26,000 visitors before prematurely closing its doors due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Roughly a year later, after receiving an overwhelming amount of messages from those who missed the exhibition or wished to see it again, the museum is once again holding an exhibition of Maier’s works. Presenting the photographer’s favoured images from over four decades, the show explores her street photography from monochrome to colour prints. Running until April 2021, this exhibition offers us the chance to rediscover some of Maier’s shadowed mystique.
