Biography
Playing with scale, Nick Hobbs pulls references from the internet and his own life and reexamines them at 7 x 13 inches. Using charcoal on paper, Hobbs’ subject matter depicts closeups of daily life, details from found imagery and the cosmos. His soft, blurry snapshots weave together the familiar and the unknown across his body of work, bringing together otherwise disparate worlds and scales into an intimate proximity.
Born in Louisiana, Hobbs (b. 1997) completed a Masters in Fine Arts at the University of Arkansas in 2023. Hobbs’ work has been featured and published in ArtMaze Magazine, The Coastal Post, Friend of the Artist, and Booooooom. His works have been exhibited in Chicago, New York City, London and Miami, and is held in the permanent collection of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA. His lives and works in New York.
