Biography
Working across drawing, tapestry, and embroidery, Charlotte Edey’s work concerns the politics of space – particularly the experience of women of colour – often through sublime, and elliptical dreamscapes. In serene palettes, her work poses question about the composition of the sublime and the surreal.
Edey, born in 1992, completed her undergraduate studies at Chelsea College of Art and Design, before going on to receive an MA at the Royal Drawing School in 2021. Edey has exhibited extensively throughout the UK, including a solo show with Public Gallery in 2019, and with Flowers Gallery in 2018. She has also participated in a number of group shows, at commercial and non commercial galleries such as TJ Boulting, Lewisham Arthouse, Flowers Gallery, Mall Galleries, Ginny on Frederick, Arusha Gallery, South Parade, the Design Museum, and Cob Gallery.
