Biography
Laila Tara H’s paintings interrogate the tensions between the personal and public realm and the intricacies of the domestic sphere. Compositions are imbued with personal histories—both thematically and materially. Delicately painted, the artist uses paints made from minerals and pigments that she has collected and processed. Continuing the tradition of Indo-Persian Miniature painting, Laila Tara H works on paper that she cuts, folds, and punctures into 3-dimensional wall pieces, interrogating the perceived limitations of traditional art forms and works on paper.
