Biography
Multi-disciplinary artist Rebecca Partridge works across painting, film and sculpture in an extensive study of place. Often working in series, the artist eschews narrative and seeks to move beyond the formal to create works that resonate with the expressive and emotive potential of landscape. Partridge looks to invoke spaces where the transcendental is possible. Depicting skyscapes and evocative landscapes in her paintings, the artist uses watercolour which she applies in layers to create richly textural works. Her work plays with both a reduction of form and a photorealist approach.
Born in 1976, Partridge received a BA in Fine Art Painting from Bath Spa University in 1999 before graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Art from the Royal Academy Schools in 2007. She is the recipient of several awards including from the Nordic Artists Centre, Norway and the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, United States. Partridge has completed residencies at the CCA Andratx Art Foundation, Mallorca and the Sanskriti Foundation, New Delhi. Her work has been exhibited in the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Norway and South Korea.
Partridge lives and works in London.
