Biography
Stephen Polatch dissolves both time and hierarchy of imagery in his intimately scaled work. By employing a wide range of historical references, Polatch denies a chronological reading of his work, allowing instead for multiple epochs to exist simultaneously in each composition. Scenes are lyrical and often uncanny yet, have their own consistent, if not fluid, internal logic and ontology.
Stephen Polatch was born in London in 1990. Polatch received his BFA from The Ruskin School of Art, Oxford, UK in 2013, and went on to study at the Royal Drawing School in London. Recent solo exhibitions include: Swan-Road, Margot Samel, New York (2022); and Clyde, Soft Opening, London, UK (2022). He lives and works in London.
