Laura Noguera

Colombian artist Laura Noguera draws on autobiographical elements to create her evocative works on canvas. Often using repeated motifs such as candles, dogs, chairs, and snakes, Noguera employs colour to lend her works expression. Setting her subject matter against ambiguous, sometimes otherworldly, backgrounds the artist introduces a tension into her work that allows for the expansive imagining of narrative and a multiplicity of readings.

Noguera (b. 1992) completed an MFA at The New York Academy of Art in 2017. She has completed residencies at the Davidoff Art Initiative, Atos de Chavon, Dominican Republic (2017) and Loma la Cicuta, Bogotá, Colombia (2019); Noguera is the recipient of the Pat & Scott Moger Award. Her work has been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Bogotá, Barcelona, Mexico City and Miami. Noguera lives and works in Bogotá, Colombia.
