Alexandre Kasproviez

Alexandre Kasproviez’s paintings explore memory and the passage of time through landscapes, figures, flowers and other elements of the natural world that emerge from and dissolve into soft, painterly hazes. Building his compositions through a process of accumulation and erasure, Kasproviez applies layers of oil paint before wiping them away, obscuring and reworking the surface with slow horizontal and vertical brushstrokes. Veiled in diffuse light, he captures his subjects’ presence and disappearance, retaining a sense of both intimacy and distance. Born out of an early fascination with photography and the blurred landscapes he observed through car windows, Kasproviez’s process mirrors the instability of recollection: images are gradually transformed through layering and removal, becoming as much about what is obscured or lost as what remains.

Kasproviez was born in France in 1995. In 2021, he began working with Ross Bleckner, who became his mentor and introduced him to oil painting. He has exhibited internationally with solo exhibitions including Beyond Vertigo, Chelsea Arts Center, New York (2022); Uma Miragem de Paz, MGallery, Rio de Janeiro (2023); At the Ocean’s Edge, Edji Gallery, New York (2023); If Only Nature Could Dance, Maestria Gallery, Paris (2024); The Final Echo Isn’t a Sound, Maestria Gallery, New York (2025); and They Woke Up at the Rising Sun, Maestria Gallery, Mexico City (2026). Selected group exhibitions include I Sing the Body Electric, Dune Alpine, East Hampton (2022); Pride Unprejudiced, Edji Gallery, Brussels (2023); Inclusion, Paris Chamber of Commerce, Paris (2023); Nocturnal Animals, Maestria Gallery, Paris (2024); and Read My Lips, Maestria Gallery, Paris (2025). Kasproviez currently lives and works in France.
