Dittmar Viane

Dittmar Viane’s paintings are full of illusion, humour, and trickery. Working in oil and with incredibly fine brushes, Viane achieves a distinct precision and luminosity in his canvases. The sense of accuracy achieved through his painting style is complicated by Viane’s impossible perspectives or surreal subject matter. Through this contrast, Viane constructs a version of reality that is at once entirely discernible and uncannily absurd. 

Dittmar Viane was born in 1998 in Izegum, Belgium. He received both his BA and MA in Illustration from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. Viane has exhibited across Belgium, including a solo presentation of his work at Everyday Gallery, Antwerp in 2022. His work has also been exhibited in the Netherlands and the United States.  

Viane lives and works in Waregem, Belgium.
