Biography
Natalia González Martín combines Catholic ritual with an edge of surrealism, reimagining classical painting within her tightly enclosed canvases. González Martín executes her paintings with a high level of realism, capturing the iridescent folds of sheer fabric, and watery lustre of freshly washed grapes. Elongated nude bodies adopt muse-like poses, stripped of their faces and extremities in close-up views. Guided by an eerie watchfulness within her work, the artist explores the boundaries between the divine and the secular.
González Martín was born in 1995, she graduated from Fine Art Painting at City & Guilds of London Art School in 2017. She has exhibited internationally, including at Steve Turner, Chicago, Sebastien Bertrand Galerie, Geneva, Guts Gallery, London, and Lawrie Shabibi Galerie, Dubai. González Martín has completed residencies at CobXPLOP and AucArt Lab, London and was selected for the YICCA Art Prize in 2018.
