Biography
Simi Stone’s multidisciplinary practice spans painting, music and performance, exploring spirituality and lived experience through an intuitive and deeply personal approach to image-making. Rooted in observation and emotional immediacy, her paintings draw upon the traditions of landscape and still life, reimagining these forms through an autobiographical lens. Flowers, landscapes and organic motifs recur throughout her work as symbols of resilience and inheritance, shaped by layered surfaces and gestural applications of paint. Her compositions move between psychological and physical space, combining vivid colour with tactile, immersive surfaces that reflect on the emotional complexities of contemporary experience.
Stone was born in New York in 1979. She received a BA in Studio Art from Bard College, New York in 2024 and in 2026 completed an MFA at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, Boston. Her work has been exhibited in the United States and internationally, with presentations in Boston; New York; and Rome, where she was awarded a fellowship for plein-air study in 2023.
