The Stream at Menadarva, 1982-1994, Jem Southam
Ahead of his third solo exhibition with the gallery, Jem Southam discusses his career, practice, and his seminal series, The Red River.
Filmed both at his home in Exeter and on the river Ex, the site of many of Southam’s photographs, the artist elaborates on his approach to depicting time and history, themes which have been central to Southam’s artistic output. The photographer’s radical use of colour is also explored in this interview, as well as his method of constructing a photographic project.
