Huxley-Parlour is delighted to announce Emily Weiner’s second solo exhibition with the gallery, Persona. Presenting a suite of eight new paintings, Weiner’s new body of work continues the artist’s exploration of Jungian psychoanalytic concepts and the vocabulary of visual culture.

Persona is borne out of the artist’s self-reflection on, and understanding of, the different roles that she inhabits. Towards this understanding, Weiner’s paintings reformulate archetypal characters from Greek Goddesses to Elvis Presley to theatrical characters such as ‘The Fool’. Exploring figures that exist not solely as individuals but have become mythologised, the artist posits identity as a recursive construct which can be moulded, repurposed, and performed in a continually evolving process.
