Martin Parr has shot the lookbook for Gucci’s Cruise 2019 collection, which was unveiled earlier this year in Arles, France. Shot at various locations in Cannes, the lookbook focuses on the bold prints and Chateau Marmont-inspired pieces from the collection, designed by Alessandro Michele. Parr has also captured Gucci watches in a new project for the fashion house. Entitled #TimetoParr, the series demonstrates Parr’s unmistakable aesthetic throughout, as the photographer captures subjects at various special Gucci Places around the world: including Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, Dapper Dan’s Harlem atelier, and the Gucci Garden in Florence.
Speaking of the campaign to Dazed & Confused magazine, Parr said: “With the shoot only comprising watches, it took some time to work out how to make an interesting picture – you know, you have to be quite close to them to show all the details, and the surroundings can’t detract from them, so they can’t be too busy. I like solving problems when it comes to photography though, that’s the fun of it for me. How can you make an interesting photo given the constraints you’re working under? That’s what I was thinking about, and I think we pulled it off.”
The projects are among Parr’s first major fashion campaigns.
